Everything above Is sort of the feel of what want in my closet right now, well the more practical “do-able” ones anyway.
I am perhaps the worst shopper. Not in the sense that I make terrible regrettable purchases but, rather I never buy the things I need or make purchases at all. I get way to stressed with shopping, little details ruin clothing for me and throw my decision as well as my patients out the window.
That aside, I put together this collage (something I will try to do more often now) to sort of inspire and organize my next purchasing decisions. So, no they may or may not be the exact item (no we unfortunately can not afford nor justify at this stage in our lives that lovely Proenza Schouler Tote), but an idea of what I’m looking for, or need.
I tend to see shopping as stocking a collection, like perhaps the collection needs this whether I do or not. I usually think practical in the sense of comfort. Can I wear this to work? Can I walk in these shoes? Will this look good with other things pre-existing in my closet?
I also tend to be more of an investment shopper, unless I feel guilty for not buying something and I own nothing at the moment. I would rather have one great maybe more expensive piece then go on a “shopping spree” , I don’t think I have every bought more than one or two pieces of clothing per shopping day, and I rarely intentionally seek out shopping.
Let’s face it Ariel you don’t really shop at all. You stare online and obsess till you finally purchase it, you return things since you either come to your senses about frantic unpractical decisions, or things you needed or really wanted just find you.
I’m not mad at myself for this either, you know how men say they buy not shop. Men decide what they need, the crucial word here being “need”, and decide to go out and buy it. It is the process of what is practical, and desired at the moment, and after the research has been done you see them march specifically to fill these needs. So, since I find a bit of nerdy pride in likening myself to the boys when it comes to cloths I’m going to be happy with this.
That being said ……I need new pick a boo slacks ( this is what I mean by that) they have to be high waisted and black, I want a pair of shades for the fall/ winter (hey there is sun during the fall/ winter so don’t judge me), a black bag of some sort, and the perfect black bump (though I’m not sure what my specify criteria are for them).
This is what goes on in my head or in front of my computer in order to organize purchasing something. How do you shop?
